Our Activities
To us, touching souls and controlling sickle cell disease is a calling, an obligation we must fulfill. This is evidenced through a wide range of activities we do to help us achieve our strategic goals and objectives.

Awareness and sensitization as a control tool against sickle cell disease. Hope for Sickle cell Foundation (HSF) started the fight against sickle cell disease by reaching out to communities in different parts of the country for example religious institutions, Schools, Hospitals as well as families in the different communities among others to create awareness and sensitize people about the disease. Encouraging people to know their sickle cell status and to act accordingly when deciding on which marriage partner to take on is noted to reduce the number of newborns with sickle cell disease.
More still, awareness and sensitization reduces the stigma as it clears away the myths and misconceptions that people have about the disease.
Providing comprehensive medical care and management of sickle cell disease. HSF provides free medication to people with sickle cell disease considered vulnerable due to their low social-economic status which usually hinders them from accessing quality medical care.
Routine medication like intermittent presumptive treatment for malaria, Antibiotic prophylaxis against bacterial infections, Folic acid and pain killers are given to patients at no cost with the help of our generous team of partners and donors. Genetic counselling is also part of our activities to couples intending to get married.
Family support and rehabilitation. Restoring hope among family members and caretakers of patients affected with sickle cell disease is one of our activities.
We encourage other family members to know their sickle cell status and our team offers free genetic counselling with reference to their test results. All this is aimed at eliminating sickle cell disease and the fruits if the efforts can be clearly observed.
